Key Players in the Cloud Billing Market Focus on Partnerships, Agreements, New Product launches, and Expansions

Rising demand for billing operations and increasing demand for centralized and convergent billing solutions has led to the increased demand for cloud billing solutions. Cloud billing providers offer a number of solutions and services under billing platform, subscription billing, cloud billing and many others to cater to the needs of the customers. Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle Corporation, NEC Corporation, IBM and Zuora are some of the top key players in the market. Moreover, to increase their sales and customer bases, these market players engage in various partnerships and agreements. New Product development is another important strategy adopted by the market players that helped the companies expand their existing product portfolio and increase customer base.

AWS is a prominent player in the cloud billing market. The core competence of AWS is to focus on refining its product portfolio, which helps it to incur higher revenues from varied industry verticals and stay up-to-date with the changing market requirements. In June 2015, AWS launched a new version of Amazon EC2 service called M4 instances that is suitable for applications such as databases, gaming servers and business applications like SAP and Microsoft SharePoint. This has benefited the company in a way that it does not have to build separate services similar to M4 for other applications. This would also help it to reduce its costs and make use of resources optimally. The company also has customer centric online services called Amazon DevPay, which attracts a lot of customers.

IBM is another top market player catering to the cloud billing market. IBM’s business strategy mix includes partnerships, collaborations, acquisitions and new product launches. It enjoys a leading position in the enterprise cloud segment. The company is penetrating the market by transforming industries and professions with data. IBM holds more than 1,500 cloud patents and offers Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Software-as-a-Service SaaS, and Business Process-as-a-Service (BPaaS) cloud delivery models to meet the diverse needs of its clients. IBM has designed its business strategy by restructuring the business mix to increase its presence in high value areas, such as services, software, and integrated solutions. It has partnered with Comverse to offer billing solutions to leverage its expertise. This would help the company build more innovative billing processes, which deliver greater efficiency and automation. Moreover, to establish a healthy customer relationship, IBM and Comverse have set up Comverse Center of Excellence (CCoE) in the IBM Telecom Solution Lab in Montpellier, France, which facilitates an operational end-to-end Operational Support Systems/Business Support Systems (OSS)/BSS environment.
