Fungicides Market - New Revenue Pockets
Strobilurin fungicides are used in agriculture to destroy numerous types of pathogenic fungi including mildews, molds, and rusts. Strobilurin fungicidal activity inhibits mitochondrial respiration by disrupting the cytochrome complex, thus blocking electron transfer leading to energy production. Their primary effect on the life cycles of fungi is the potent inhibition of spore germination. Strobilurin compounds work on a broad range of fungal pests and are used on a wide range of crops, most particularly corn. Along with its innovative mode of function and wide spectra, the group of strobilurin fungicides has significant advantages over other fungicides in increasing yield and environmental friendliness.
The global market for fungicides is dominated by North America and Europe, owing to superior product technology and high fungicide use per hectare of cultivated area. However, in the last decade, the demand for fungicides from these regions has been decreasing. This is primarily due to thestringent regulatory framework in these regions, which has resulted in high-volume fungicides such as carbendazim being banned in the U.S., forcing many manufacturers to undertake extensive research and development to evaluate the environmental impact of their products. The North American and European markets are experiencing demand saturation due to newer trends of utilizing biofungicides in agriculture.
