Sygenta is the leader in the nematicides market. Syngenta was a result of a merger between the agribusinesses of Novartis AG (Switzerland) and AstraZeneca (Switzerland). It is involved in the discovery, development, production, and marketing of various products to improve the crop yield and food quality. It operates through three business segments: crop protection, seeds, and business development.

The company markets its products in over 90 countries across the globe and has more than 29,000 employees, globally, as of 2013. It has R&D centers in Stein (Switzerland), Jealott’s Hill (U.K.), Research Triangle Park NC (U.S.), and Goa (India). Syngenta has manufacturing facilities in Switzerland, U.S., U.K., France, India, China, and Brazil.

Syngenta aims at developing fully-integrated crop solutions by combining its crop protection and seeds activities segments. It has a strong pipeline of crop protection products for all key crops such as corn, soybean, and cereal crops. The company entered into agreements and collaborations with major companies such as Bayer Crop Science (Germany) and BioLeap Inc. (U.S.) to develop novel products for crop protection. It has also signed distribution agreements with Isagro (Italy), and Novozymes (Denmark) to enhance its market reach.

The company signed an agreement with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre Center (Mexico) to develop solutions combining crop protection and seeds treatments to improve plant performance in wheat. The company launched new products as well as obtained approvals for its products in different regions, thereby increasing its market presence, globally.

The company has covered the European agricultural market, efficiently, and is now focusing on new markets such as the U.S., Russia, and Africa. Syngenta is investing in Russia to establish a new soil treatment and a crop protection facility, in partnership with the office of the Governor of Krasnodarskiy Krai, Russia. The company also plans to invest $1 billion in Africa in the next 10 years.
