Joel Pliskin

Joel is the Principal Advisor for Healthcare domain of MarketsandMarkets. Joel Pliskin has over twenty five years of experience in high technology industries, including computing, networking, mobile solutions and medical devices.

He has worked for industry leaders like Hewlett Packard, Apple, Varian Medical Systems and Intuitive Surgical. He was also a Policy Analysis Fellow at the RAND Graduate School, working on a variety of technology-related projects.

Joel also brings a wealth of international experience. He has lived abroad and worked in Europe, Asia, Israel and Africa. While working with Inveneo, a San Francisco-based NGO specializing in bringing technology to underserved communities, he established Community Knowledge Centers (computing and networking centers) throughout Africa. He negotiated and wrote the winning response to the Ethiopian government's tender for six radiotherapy clinics on behalf of a Varian distributor. He has performed installation and customer training of medical devices in Poland, Japan and Taiwan, among others. He has also written white papers on company strategy, requiring significant competitive research, for both Varian and Intuitive Surgical. He is multi-lingual and can conduct business in French.

He has degrees in Computer Science (BS) and Electrical Engineering (MS) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA (Marketing emphasis) from Santa Clara University.
