Anastomosis is a connection made surgically between adjacent blood vessels, parts of the intestine, or other channels of the body. It is achieved by surgically suturing or stapling the two ends of the channel to restore or form a new connection. Vascular anastomosis is performed to connect the blood vessels, for e.g. in cardio vascular surgeries such as by-pass surgery. Similarly, gastrointestinal anastomosis is performed for bowel re-sectioning, for e.g. in Gastrojejunostomy. With increasing ailments of cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal surgeries, and organ transplants has resulted in demand for anastomosis devices.
WHO estimates 17.9 Million people die each year from cardiovascular associated diseases (CAD). That is 31% of all global deaths. According to U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 34,770 organ transplants were performed in 2017. The treatment of these diseases and surgeries heavily depend on anastomosis procedure, thereby increasing use of anastomosis devices.
Lifestyle changes and minimal medical procedures, can effectively prevent or treat CAD in most individuals. Even though invasive cardiovascular surgery is not recommended as the first-line of treatment for patients, especially when options such as angioplasty and stenting are more feasible. Nevertheless, the increasing incidence rates with advanced diseases, surgery remains the best option where anastomosis procedures play an important role. Increasing demand for Coronary artery bypass, gastrointestinal disorders, increasing geriatric population, and organ transplant procedures, anastomosis devices market is growing at a steady pace.
The Surgical anastomosis devices market is segmented based on product, application, and region. The Surgical anastomosis products include surgical sutures and surgical staplers.
This research report categorizes the global anastomosis devices market into the following segments and sub segments:
