Automotive PCB Market

Market Leader - Automotive PCB Market

The global automotive PCB market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.33% during the forecast period, to reach USD 12.43 Billion by 2025. The market growth is primarily driven by factors such as the increase in demand for comfort and safety features in a vehicle and the increasing production of electric and semi-autonomous vehicles.

Expansion is the key strategy adopted by major players to gain traction in this mature market. For instance, Chin Poon Industrial, the largest Taiwan-based automotive PCB maker, started production capacity expansion in 2014 and planned to invest USD 106 Million over four years. As a result, the company is able to compete with other Taiwan-based PCB manufacturers such as Unimicron Technology and Tripod Technology.

The automotive PCB market is dominated by a few global players. The key market players are CMK Corporation and Meiko Electronics. CMK corporation is one of the leading players in the PCB market for automotive. CMK has developed a new product called Super Fine PPBU, which provides fine patterns, large-diameter through holes, increased design freedom, and more precision in functioning. This PCB permits high rigidity despite its slim dimensions, superior insulation reliability, dimensional stability, and mounting stability and finds application in PCs, laptops, smartphones, and automotive accessories.

Meiko Electronics has a strong presence in Asia Pacific, which is largest market for automotive PCBs.The company established a subsidiary called Meiko Techno in Yamato, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This facility is involved in the mountings of PCB and in manufacturing and selling imaging and industrial equipment. In addition to this, the company established a subsidiary called Meiko Electronics Thang Long in Hanoi, Vietnam. This facility deals with the manufacture and sales of PCBs. This new facility became a major production base for high-density interconnect (HDI) boards and HDI modules for high-end automobiles, the demand for which is expected to increase. Also, the company has signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TNI Holdings Vietnam Group in October 2017. Under the MoU, Meiko Electronics Vietnam Company, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of printed circuit boards and electronic assembly, would lease land area and infrastructure in Quang Minh Industrial Park belonging to TNI Holdings Vietnam, in Me Linh District of Hanoi, for the establishment of its plant with a total investment of USD 50 million. This will help the company to cater to the demand for automotive PCBs in the region.
