Captive Portal Market

Cisco (US) and Extreme Networks (US) are leading players in Captive Portal Market

Captive portal market size is projected to grow from USD 0.9 billion in 2023 to USD 1.7 billion by 2028, at a CAGR of 13.4% during the forecast period. The increasing demand for secure and controlled access to WiFi networks will drive the growth of the captive portal market. These players have adopted various growth strategies, such as partnerships, agreements and collaborations, new product launches, product enhancements, and acquisitions to expand their footprint in the captive portal market.

Cisco Captive Portal is a feature on Cisco wireless access points that allows you to set up a guest network where wireless users must be authenticated before they can access the Internet. It provides wireless access to your visitors while maintaining the security of your internal network. In December 2022, Cisco launched version 2.5.1 of the Cisco Business Dashboard (CBD), which includes support for an external Captive Portal page for CBW140 and CBW150 series networks. This newly introduced feature serves as an authentication page for guest networks and brings numerous benefits compared to local captive portal pages.

ExtremeGuest was initially developed for deployment in ExtremeWireless WiNG installations, allowing it to gather guest analytics data from the WiNG captive portal and enforce access control. However, in the latest release, this support has been expanded to include ExtremeCloud Appliance-managed networks and ExtremeControl-managed wired networks. In August 2019, Extreme Networks acquired Aerohive Networks, a company known for its expertise in cloud-managed wireless networking solutions. By joining forces, Extreme Networks aims to strengthen its portfolio by incorporating Aerohive's cloud management and edge capabilities. This strategic move enables Extreme Networks to expand its presence in the enterprise networking market.
