To meet this growing need, healthcare systems are looking forward to integrate their EHR solutions with CDSS and CPOE and knowledge-based CDSS solutions, which help in making accurate decisions at the point-of-care.

A non-profit industry organization named Chinese Hospital Information Management Associations takes care of the promotion of information exchange activities, and establishment of standards and regulations and the training of professionals. This facilitates further development of hospital information management throughout China. According to The Centre for Health Statistics & Information, Ministry of Health survey, China, only 7% of 3,765 surveyed hospitals deployed CDSS and more than 90% hospitals still have to implement CDSS solutions. This offers an opportunity for healthcare IT vendors to penetrate into the Chinese market. There are approximately 500 software providers that offer health information systems in China, of which, about 300 are HIS developers; 15% of them are large companies, 60% are mid–size companies, and 25% are small companies.

Australia, India, Brazil, Singapore, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia are other prominent destinations for the CDSS market players. Factors impacting the growth in these countries are the presence of favorable government initiatives such as Health Management Information System (HMIS) portal (India), and HealthConnect (Australia), stable economic conditions, and rise in incidences of chronic disorders. Thus, these countries will evolve as lucrative destinations for CDSS vendors, to generate high returns on investment.
