The composite repairs market is projected to reach USD 21.97 Billion by 2026, at a CAGR of 8.0% between 2016 and 2026. Composite repairs are carried out on damaged composite parts of aircraft, wind blades, automotive composite panels, old bridges, boats, and leakages in pipes & tanks. Cost savings associated with composite structure repairs as compared to parts replacement is the major factor driving the composite repairs market. Composite repairs can save up to 60% of the cost as compared to composite parts replacement depending on the end-user industry and severity of the damage
Contracts & agreements were the most preferred strategy among the composite repair service providers to expand their geographic reach and to cater to end users across regions between 2012 and 2016. This strategy accounted for a major share of all the developmental strategies adopted between 2012 and 2016. Some of the major market players catering to various end-use industries are Lufthansa Technik AG (Germany), Air France KLM E&M (France), and HAECO (U.S.), which are the key players providing composite repair services to the aerospace & defense industry. Similarly, for wind energy, UpWind Solution (U.S.), Total Wind Group A/S (Denmark), Technical Wind Services (Scotland) are the key players providing composite repair services. Citadel Technologies (U.S.), Milliken Infrastructure (U.S.), and T.D. Williamson (U.S.) are the key service providers for FRP pipeline repairs. West Systems (U.S.) and WR composites (U.K.) provide repair services for composite boats. Fibrwraps (U.S.) and Concrete Repairs Ltd. (U.K.) provide repair services to the construction industry.
Besides contracts & agreements, new service & technology launches, expansions, and merger & acquisitions were the key strategies adopted by the service providers to enhance their market share and expand their geographical reach.
