ABB (Switzerland) is one of the established companies in industrial automation, electrification and robotics. It offers a wide range of products, systems, solutions, and services to various industries such as oil & gas, automation, power generation, and infrastructure & transportation. The company operates through 3 divisions, namely, electrification products, robotics and motion, and industrial automation. It offers DC circuit breakers through its medium voltage products in the power distribution subsegment of the electrification products division. The company’s DC circuit breaker ensure stable, reliable, efficient, safe power supply, and cost-effectiveness in a broad range of applications.  It has presence in over 100 countries, with production and R&D centers located across the globe. It has approximately 320 consolidated operating and holding subsidiaries worldwide. Moreover, in November 2018, ABB was awarded a contract by TransnetBW, one of the prominent grid operators in Germany, to upgrade its high voltage substation in the city of Obermooweiler. Under this contract, ABB also supplied a 380-kV gas insulated switchgear, one of the first in the world.

Toshiba (Japan) is one of the largest multinational conglomerates and positions itself as a manufacturer of diversified electric and electronic products for a wide range of end users. It operates through 6 business segments, namely, infrastructure systems and solutions, storage and electronic devices solutions, energy systems and solutions, retail & electronic devices systems and solutions, industrial ICT solutions, and other which include personal computer, visual products, etc. The DC Circuit Breaker is offered under the motors & drivers product line, which is a subsegment of energy systems and solutions. The company operates globally via its 389 consolidated subsidiaries. Moreover, in November 2016, Toshiba developed an on-chip Single-Inductor Multiple-Output (SIMO) DC-DC converter for IoT devices reliant on coin-type lithium-ion batteries for power. The new converter achieves 65–86% efficiency in the load range from 1 ěW to 50 mW, more than 100 times wider than that of a conventional SIMO DC-DC converter and extends the battery life of IoT devices.
