Leap Motion has developed a motion sensing technology and launched its controller in May 2012. The device has garnered immense attention amongst OEMs and developers alike, thanks to the company’s marketing strategies. The company has already shipped more than ten thousand devices for developers to work on and also took in preorders. As the attention grew on the company it announced the partnership with ASUSTeK to bundle the device with ASUSTeK’s notebooks and desktops. These devices are expected to begin shipping in the latter half of 2013.

This motion sensing device tracks the gestures made by the user, thereby eliminating the need to touch or use of a peripheral device. The current major restraint for the Gesture Recognition Market is the reliability of the technology. A number of companies have launched products with gesture recognition technology integrated into them, but none could generate any significant buzz. With the overwhelming attention generated by Leap Motion this is expected to change.Also the company has made good moves through its marketing to increase the visibility and made sure it addressed the other problem plaguing the gesture recognition market, the lack of content. A number of developers around the world are currently working on developing applications based on the device. These applications will be available by the time of the device’s launch.

It was evident when Hewlett Packard announced its deal with, Leap Motion.
