New Product Launches was Another Important Development Strategy Adopted by Companies to Strengthen Their Positions in the Synthetic Zeolites Market.

The synthetic zeolites market is growing over the past five years owing to the increase in the demand for synthetic zeolites from the Portland cement & concrete and bricks & blocks applications. Currently, the synthetic zeolites market is led by various key players such as Albemarle Corporation (U.S.), BASF SE (Germany), Honeywell International Inc. (U.S.), Clariant AG (Switzerland), W. R. Grace & Co. -Conn. (U.S.), Tosoh Corporation (Japan), Union Showa K.K. (Japan), Zeochem AG (Switzerland), KNT Group (Russia), and Arkema S.A. (France).

BASF SE and W. R. Grace & Co. undertook the expansions strategy in the past few years. New product launches was another important development strategy adopted by companies to strengthen their positions in the synthetic zeolites market.

In March 2017, BASF Catalysts India (a subsidiary of BASF SE) established its new mobile emissions catalysts manufacturing facility in Chennai, India. This new production plant will replace the existing BASF plant in Chennai. In June, 2016 Honeywell UOP, a subsidiary of Honeywell International Inc., established a new production line at its catalyst manufacturing facility in Shreveport, LA, investing USD 150 million to enable the production of a new range of catalysts for the oil refining industry.

In April 2015, Albemarle Corporation introduced a new leading-edge catalyst as part of its portfolio of high-activity STARS catalysts to further strengthen its position in the hydrocracking pre-treat (HC-PT) market. In September 2016, BASF SE introduced the Portable Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) Catalyst Addition System for refinery catalysts in Europe. This system provides economic benefits for refiners from catalyst trials and minimizes the potential risks of changing to a new catalyst.

Albemarle Corporation is engaged in the manufacture and marketing of highly engineered specialty chemicals. It operates through four business segments, namely, lithium and advanced materials, bromine specialties, refining solutions, and others. Under the refining solutions segment, the company offers zeolites and other catalysts.

BASF SE operates through six business segments, namely, chemicals, performance products, functional materials & solutions, agricultural solutions, oil & gas, and others. Under the functional materials & solutions segment, the company offers zeolites and catalysts, in addition to battery materials, engineering plastics, automotive coatings, and surface treatment solutions.
