Automotive Power Distribution Block Market

Market Leaders - Automotive Power Distribution Block Market

The automotive power distribution block market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.15% during the forecast period, to reach USD 8.60 billion by 2025. The market growth is primarily driven by factors such as the increasing adoption of electronic functions in a vehicle and increasing production of electric and semi-autonomous vehicles.

Expansion is the key strategy adopted by major players to gain traction in this mature market. For instance, in May 2018, TE Connectivity’s China auto business started the second phase of its NEPZ Plant expansion project in Suzhou. Approximately, USD 100 million has been invested in this project. The NEPZ plant, which has a floor area of 36,500 square meters, will produce connectors, wire harnesses, junction boxes, and sensors for new energy vehicles. The company’s production facility in Suzhou is spread across 95,000 square meters. The second most popular strategy adopted by industry players was joint venture and collaboration. For instance, In July 2014, Sumitomo Wiring Systems formed a joint venture with Russian company Radio Equipment Plant (part of the holding company Ruselectronics) in Yekaterinburg (Russia). This joint venture would help Sumitomo to cater to the demand from the OEMs such as AVTOVAZ, Renault, and Nissan located in Russia.

The automotive power distribution block market is dominated by a few global players. The key market players are Eaton Corporation and Yazaki. Eaton is one of the leading players in the automotive power distribution block market. In May 2018, Eaton announced the establishment of Eaton Israel, which will operate through two sites a sales, marketing, and support center in Ra’anana and a logistics and distribution center in Ashdod. The products and services offered in Israel include power distribution, energy storage, industrial automation and data center solutions, as well as life safety products for fire detection, emergency notification, and safe evacuation, including adaptive emergency lighting systems.

Yazaki has a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region, which is the largest market for automotive power distribution block. The company is expanding its operations in other regions as well. In September 2017, Yazaki expanded its operations in Texas to include manufacturing of dealer parts and service components and established a manufacturing development center for engineering. The facility, located in El Paso, produces parts for services such as fuse boxes, electronic modules, and remote keyless entry systems. Column switches, electric vehicle charge couplers, and instrument panel clusters will also be produced at the facility.

In June 2017, the company opened a new facility in Arizona to meet the demand and growth as west coast automakers and automotive start-ups continue to grow. The facility, located southeast of Phoenix in Chandler, serves Yazaki’s customers stationed on the west coast and currently houses commercial operations including account and program management, sales and pricing, and production control specific to those customers.
