In March 2018, Ficosa announced that it has established itself in Africa for the first time, opening a new production center in Rabat (in the Technopolis free zone), Morocco. In this premise, the company would develop and produce complex vision systems that are crucial for the car of the future. Ficosa would also produce electric cable sets, rear-view mirrors, shifter systems, and washer systems in this plant. In August 2016, Ficosa opened its new plant in Jandira, Brazil. This facility is also home to an R&D center that will develop solutions for the Mercosur region. Moreover, in July 2015, Ficosa announced that Renault’s new Espace incorporates the new “Shift by wire” automatic gearshift.  The shift system is based on a movement detection module, called "Minishifter" because of its small size, which is mounted on the electronic board. This module reproduces the lever movements and, through a magnet, transmits them to a three-dimensional magnetic sensor that sends the signal to the ECU system
