Cisco (US) and Huawei (China) are the Leading Players in the Wi-Fi Market

The global Wi-Fi market is growing at a significant rate, due to many factors, such as the proliferation of mobile devices and rapidly growing adoption of BYOD trend and IoT among enterprises. Poor user experience in high-density environments along with security and privacy concerns is a major restraint for the growth of the global Wi-Fi market. Key players in the global Wi-Fi market adopt strategic partnership as an important strategy to develop new services and gain traction in the market. MarketsandMarkets forecasts the global Wi-Fi market to grow from USD 5.96 Billion in 2017 to USD 15.60 Billion by 2022, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 21.2% during the forecast period.

The Wi-Fi ecosystem comprises major vendors, such as Cisco (US), Aruba (US), Ruckus Wireless (US), Juniper Networks (US), Ericsson (Sweden), Panasonic (Japan), Huawei (China), Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (France), Netgear (US), Aerohive Networks (US), and Riverbed Technology (US). These leading players have adopted various growth strategies, such as partnerships, collaborations, agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and new product developments, to achieve growth in the Wi-Fi market.

Cisco is a leading provider of Wi-Fi solutions. In January 2017, Cisco extended its partnership with Ericsson to include a new Wi-Fi solution, Evolved Wi-Fi Networks (EWN), which integrates Ericsson's 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) access, core networks, and applications with Cisco's Wi-Fi portfolio. In February 2016, Cisco launched another access point, MR42, to provide high-performance and more efficient Wi-Fi.

Huawei is one of the top players in the Wi-Fi market. The company is focused on building new solutions with an aim of making its Wi-Fi solutions simple, fast, and more efficient for end-users. In January 2018, Huawei unveiled Huawei WiFi Q2, a hybrid whole home Wi-Fi system. In September 2017, Huawei launched the X-Gen Wi-Fi to redefine agile campus networks to enable a three-fold bandwidth increase and four-fold increase in the number of concurrent access users. It allows hybrid access through 10 Gbps-equipped Wi-Fi and IoT technologies, such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, and RFID.
