Drone Battery Market

Drone Battery Companies - Eaglepicher Technologies (US), Oxis Energy Ltd (US) are the Key Players

The Drone Battery Market is projected to grow from USD 4.0 Billion in 2021 to USD 9.6 Billion by 2026, at a CAGR of 19.0% from 2021 to 2026. Increasing demand of drones for various applications such as e-commerce, healthcare, and food delivery; limited charge capacity of current batteries in commercial drones; rising amendments in regulatory frameworks to encourage drone battery; and innovations in smart battery technologies to increase the flight endurance and also lower the carbon emission are some of the factors fueling the growth of the market.

Major Drone Battery Companies Include:

  • Eaglepicher Technologies (US)
  • Oxis Energy Ltd (US)
  • Plug Power Inc (US)
  • HES Energy Systems (Singapore)
  • Intelligent Energy (UK)

These are established companies with manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and strong distribution networks across major regions such as North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.

EaglePicher Technologies is a leading manufacturer of batteries and energetic devices. Its aerospace product portfolio includes batteries for launch vehicles, satellites, space exploration, civil & commercial aviation, and unmanned aerial vehicles. EaglePicher currently supplies energy storage systems for several drone applications. In January 2019, CFD Research Corporation signed an exclusive agreement with EaglePicher Technologies for the usage of its high-voltage battery materials. This is expected to improve the capacity of its future batteries.

Oxis Energy Ltd is a manufacturer of lithium-sulfur batteries. It collaborates with NASA to develop high energy density Li-S cells for weight crucial applications such as drones and high-altitude vehicles. OXIS also develops cells for several European and US companies. These cells would be used in high-altitude drones and other aerospace applications such as stratospheric balloons. In November 2019, OXIS Energy partnered with Sanyo Trading Co. Ltd to target key markets in Japan. This is expected to bolster its distribution network.

Plug Power Inc. is an American company engaged in the development of hydrogen fuel cell systems and primarily operates in the field of hydrogen power solutions. Its product portfolio consists of hydrogen fuel cell-based power systems such as ProGen Fuel Cell systems, GenDrive systems for material handling operations, and GenSure systems for power backup. Its ProGen Fuel Cell systems are tailored for drone applications and have two power capacity variants: 300W and 1000W. In November 2019, Plug Power announced the acquisition of EnergyOr (a fuel cell and drone manufacturer).
