The Ability of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure Systems Include Data Management Through Common Interface
Hyper-converged infrastructure solutions deploy server, storage, networking, and virtualization resources on a single commodity server rather than deploying over separate hardware components. There is an ever-increasing demand for better, faster, more reliable, and more secure data management services with optimum level of efficiency. According to the MarketsandMarkets forecast, the hyper-converged infrastructure market size is expected to grow from USD 796.1 Million in 2015 to USD 12,607.4 Million by 2022, at a CAGR of 43.59% between 2016 and 2022. The ability of hyper-converged infrastructure systems include data management through common interface, improved scalability levels, integrated data protection services, and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) of systems which are the major driving factors for the market.
The key players in the hyper-converged infrastructure market include Nutanix (U.S.), Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (U.S.), VMware Inc. (U.S.), Maxta Inc. (U.S.), SimpliVity Corporation (U.S.), Scale Computing (U.S.), Gridstore Inc. (U.S.), Nimboxx Inc. (U.S.), Cisco Systems Inc. (U.S.), and Pivot3 Inc. (U.S.) among many others.
The hyper-converged infrastructure market witnessed many collaborations, agreements, and partnerships by key players between 2014 and 2016. In Jaunuary 2016, Commvault Systems, Inc. (U.S.) and Nutanix (U.S.) made strategic partnership by which Nutanix is likely to integrate Commvault software with Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor to simplify protection and recovery for data and virtual machines running on Nutanix. During the same period, SimpliVity Corporation (U.S.) joined Microsoft Corporation (U.S.) enterprise alliance program and also announced its support to the VMware Vsphere platform. In March 2016, Pivot3 (U.S.) partnered with Ultralevel Inc. (U.S.) to bring Pivot3ís hyper-convergence solutions for data center to market. This partnership is expected to provide low-cost hyper-convergence solutions to the end users.
The key players also adopted the strategy of expansions to expand their geographic presence as well as their product portfolio to reach untapped markets. In March 2016, Scale Computing (U.S.) partnered with fairsystems (UAE) to expand its reach in the Middle East. Under this agreement, fairsystems (UAE) is likely to distribute the HC3 hyper-converged virtualization platform by Scale Computing in the Middle East. In November 2015, the company also announced to expand its operations in Canada to meet the growing demand for hyper-convergence solutions from Canadian IT companies. Additionally, in December 2015, SimpliVity Corporation (U.S.) expanded its operation in the EMEA region by opening new office at Germany which serves as regional hub for the European region and new partner expansion in the EMEA region.
The major players also launched new products to strengthen their product portfolio and to expand their offerings to newer clients. In February 2016, VMware Inc. (U.S.), in association with EMC Corporation (U.S.), introduced VCE VxRail appliance family, the hyper-converged infrastructure appliances (HCIA) for VMware environments. During the same period, Nutanix (U.S.) launched new version of its web-scale computing platform, Acropolis which can provide higher performance for any workload without additional hardware or software license. In February 2016, SimpliVity Corporation (U.S.) launched OmniStack Solution with Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) by Cisco Systems Inc. (U.S.) for remote office/branch office (ROBO) deployments. This solution would provide unified management and data protection for all remote enterprise sites.
