Driver: Growing demand in fuel cells

The phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC) uses liquid phosphoric as an electrolyte. PAFC is the first commercial fuel cell in the world. The PAFCs have improved performance, cost, and stability. These properties make PAFCs perfect fit for the early stationary power generation applications. PAFCs are also used to power large vehicles such as city buses and trucks. The PAFCs are designed in a highly concentrated or pure saturated liquid phosphoric acid in a silicon carbide (SiC) matrix. The operating range of the temperature is about 150°C to 210°C. The carbon paper coated electrodes have finely dispersed platinum catalyst.
