Photovoltaic films are produced through extrusion or co-extrusion processes - the polymers are melted, shaped into thin sheets, and submerged or bonded together by coating them with silica or adhesion promoters (like silanes) to be able to bond the film to attachment materials beyond just glass or back sheets.
