TAED is a bleach activator mainly used in detergents and additives for laundry washing to enhance the effect of oxygen-based bleach. Normally oxygen bleaching is conducted at high temperatures of 950oC, which has adverse effects on the fabric and involves high cost. TAED reduces the temperature of oxygen-based bleach to about 400oC and helps make the bleach well-suited to the enzymes during the stain removal process. It is odorless, colorless, storage stable, safe, and easy to handle.
TAED is biodegradable with low emission levels to the environment. It has very low toxicity and can be easily removed during the sewage water treatment process. It has negligible effect on air but some amount of emissions to agricultural land may occur through sewage sludge and adversely affect the soil. TAED also finds applications in hard surface cleaning, dairy & food cleaning, industrial cleaners, automatic dishwashing systems, and so on.
