While two-person models exist, a typical ATV accommodates a single rider. Also known as quads or four-wheelers, ATVs are generally smaller than UTVs, more physically intensive to operate, and easier to transport long distances, as they can fit in the beds of most full-size pickups and many standard utility trailers.

    A side-by-side (SxS), also called a utility vehicle (UTV), usually boasts four to six wheels and bench or bucket seating with seatbelts for up to six passengers.
